sMedio and Toda Corporation jointly develop a system to measure and cloud manage the environment at mountain tunnel construction sites, and begin demonstration operations.
(Head Office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Sadanori Iwamoto; TSE Growth: 3913; hereinafter "sMedio") and Toda Corporation (Head Office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Seisuke Otani; Tokyo Prime: 1860; hereinafter "Toda Construction") have jointly developed a system that measures the environment at a mountain tunnel construction site, centrally manages it in the cloud, and visualizes it with an iOS app (hereinafter "this system"), The system, which measures the environment at mountain tunnel construction sites, centrally manages it in the cloud, and visualizes it with an iOS application (hereinafter referred to as "the System"), has been jointly developed and is now being tested at tunnel sites currently under construction by Toda Corporation.
1. Background of development
The underground working environment of a mountain tunnel under construction is closely related to the health and safety of the workers. In addition, the underground working environment changes from moment to moment depending on the nature of the work, the operating conditions of machinery and equipment, and the effects of the external environment. Therefore, in order to maintain a good underground working environment during tunnel construction, it is important to constantly monitor the underground environmental indicators, which change according to the work cycle.
2. Summary of the Demonstration
Kiwi Technology Inc. has installed LoRaWAN*1 compatible gateways (TLG3901BLV2), environmental sensors*2 (LAS-302V2), indicators (LAS-I01), and 3-color electronic paper*3 (LAS-D03), all of which feature long-range wireless communication, in the "New Meishin Expressway Ujitawara Tunnel East Construction Work The iOS application and the electronic paper were installed in the tunnel and at the site office of the "Shin-Meishin Expressway Ujitawara Tunnel East Construction Project "*4 currently under construction at the Company. Using the installed iOS application and the electronic paper, we have started a trial operation to monitor CO2 concentration, temperature, and humidity in real time as indicators of the underground environment (Figure 1).
The features of this system are as follows
(1) Long-distance radio communication (currently confirmed to communicate over 1,000 m*5) is used, which reduces the need for relay equipment replacement in the pit.
The leased line also eliminates radio interference with other underground communication facilities.
The threshold value for each measurement item can be set, and when the set value is exceeded, the display color of the electronic paper changes from orange to red, visually indicating that the measurement is complete.
In addition to confirmation, it is also possible to confirm by means of an audible warning.
(3) Notification by e-mail and iOS application Web application allow users to check details even remotely, and can be used to monitor environmental conditions.
1 Name of a wireless network standard that is a type of LPWA (power-saving long-distance communication)
2 Equipment used to quantitatively determine the state of water, air, soil, etc.
3 Among display media that maintain the visibility and portability that are considered advantages of paper, those that can be rewritten electrically.
4 Ordering party: West Nippon Expressway Co.
5 Effectiveness may vary depending on the communication environment.
3. Future Prospects
In the future, we intend to increase the number of target work environment items and use AI to visualize environmental forecast information for each task, thereby providing a favorable work environment and solving DX issues at construction sites.
